Darrell Jamha (November 27, 1955 – March 11, 2012)
Darrell Jamha passed away peacefully, surrounded by loving family & friends in his home at 12:20 AM on March 11th at the age of 56 years.
He is survived by his children Emily & Alex MacArthur and their mother Elizabeth; his former partner Deb, his brother Glenn, and sister Heather (Terry) Smith.
He was predeceased by his parents Robert & Evelyn.
Darrell Jamha will be lovingly remembered by all who knew him, including extended family, his many friends on his ‘Men’s Team’ and his Heart for Healing community.
Darrell was an avid athlete & loved squashing his opponents on the tennis & squash courts. At one time he ranked 4th in Alberta for Men’s Squash.
Although ALS could be perceived as a horrific disease, Darrell experienced it as a journey into deeper love & understanding of the power of community. His journey brought his many circles of friends together, in a common cause. He knew, as we all know now, that we become stronger, wiser, more compassionate by learning to accept support from those around us and by opening ourselves to the gifts that are there.
There were many people involved in Darrell’s care over the months who made his journey more comfortable and fulfillling and thanks go out to all who supported him in any way. Special thanks and appreciation are given to his daily caregivers who worked endlessly and often without sleep to ensure that Darrell didn’t suffer; Anton Quon, Roger Corbeil, Mimi He and Tammy Wolbaum.
Thank you Darrell Jamha for the gifts you have given us. We will miss you.
