On Sunday my friend, Darrell Jamha, passed from ALS. Darrell invited people into his experience, and allowed those who were willing, the opportunity to witness his transformation both physically and spiritually.
This video was sent to me by a mutual friend who also experienced Darrell’s journey. I have watched it over and over and over. I cannot imagine that Snow Patrol was aware of ALS / MND when the video was created, but it has captured something that can only be experienced, and once experienced, understood.

    CHASING CARS — Snow Patrol

    We’ll do it all
    Everything on our own
We don’t need anything or anyone

    If I lay here
    If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

    I don’t quite know
    How to say
    How I feel

    Those three words
    Are said too much
    They’re not enough

    If I lay here
    If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

    Forget what we’re told
    Before we get too old
Show me a garden that’s bursting into life

    Let’s waste time
    Chasing cars
    Around our heads

    I need your grace
    To remind me
    To find my own

    If I lay here
    If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

    Forget what we’re told
    Before we get too old
Show me a garden that’s bursting into life

    All that I am
    All that I ever was
Is here in your perfect eyes, they’re all I can see

    I don’t know where
    Confused about how as well
Just know that these things will never change for us at all

    If I lay here
    If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

“I need your grace to remind me…to find my own” – thank you Darrell

I just happened upon this site while doing research about ALS. I found Darrell’s speech lovely. It reminded me of the transformation that my friend, Stefania Raiola-Chadsey experienced in her last 6-8 months of her cancer/lyphoma. In April, 2013, it will be two years since her passing. Darrell exhibited the same message of love and courage.
